― 能登半島震災支援と現地視察のため､カリタス南相馬から幸田司教さまと根本(南原)摩利さんが1月23日に行かれました。幸田司教さまは一泊、根本さんは1週間くらい滞在され、その後、他のスタッフが交代で行く予定です。既に現地にいる方達とベースの立ち上げの手伝い、情報交換をしながら活動を続けていく計画です。　Bishop Koda and Mari Nemoto (Nanbara) from Caritas Minamisoma went to the Noto Quake site on January 23rd to support the earthquake relief efforts and to inspect the disaster site. Bishop Koda will stay there for one night and Ms. Nemoto for about one week. After that, other staff members will go in turns. We plan to continue our activities with those who are already there, helping to set up the base and exchanging information with them.

地元の方達はやはり12年前のことを思い出されています。何度も繰り返されるニュースでの被災状況の映像はもう見られないと言っている方が多いです。と同時に津波の映像を見ながら思わず「早く逃げろ！何も持たないでとにかく高いところへ逃げろ！」と叫んでしまうと。避難所にいる方達には「２泊3日くらいのつもりでいいから、早めに二次避難場所とかホテル、旅館等に行くように、体力を弱らせないように」と勧めたいと。「まずは自分の命を守るように」とも言われています。　The local people here at Minamisoma are still remembering what happened 12 years ago. Many of them say they can no longer watch the images of the disaster on the news that are repeated over and over again. In addition, many of them are saying that they can no longer watch the images of the tsunami, and are saying, "Hurry up and run away! Run to high ground without holding anything!" while watching the images of the tsunami. They would like to encourage people in evacuation centers to go to secondary evacuation sites, hotels, inns, etc. as soon as possible, even if it is just for two or three days and nights, so as not to weaken their physical strength. They also said, "First of all, save your own life."

― 新しいスタッフとしてUさんが2024年1月より来られることになりました。しばらくはカリタス関係の活動見学をします。小高復興団地のお米やお餅くばり、障害者施設での活動、パッチワーク、眞こころサロンの活動等を見学されています。Mr. U will join us as a new staff member of Caritas Minamisoma starting January 2024. He will observe Caritas-related activities for a while. He will observe activities such as rice and rice-cake distribution at Odaka Reconstruction Complex, activities at facilities for the handicapped, and patchwork activities with Magokoro-salon.

― 聖霊会のシスター村上のパステルアート出前講座はいくつかの小学校からの声がかかり、児童・保護者との活動を楽しまれています。Sr. Murakami of the Holy Spirit Sisters has been invited by several elementary schools for her pastel art classes, and she enjoys working with children and their parents.

― 外国人のための日本語のクラスをシスター畠中が手伝っていますが、最近はオーストラリア、モンゴルからの小学生２人を週２回、学校に直接行って日本語を教えています。Sr. Hatanaka has been helping with Japanese classes for foreigners. These days she has been helping two elementary school students from Australia and Mongolia going directly to their schools twice a week.

― 原町にある映画館「朝日座」が100周年を迎え、いろいろなイベントが企画されています。The Asahiza movie theater in Haramachi is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and various events are being planned.

― この冬も小高川や請戸川に白鳥が飛来しています。小高川の水が少なくなっている時には近くの畑に群れをなして飛んできています。この写真は幸田司教さま撮影で請戸川です。Swans are flying into the Odaka River again this winter. When the water level of the Odaka River is low, swans fly in flocks to nearby fields.
