― 援助マリア修道会の総長様来訪　Visit of Superior General of the Sisters of Marie Auxiliatrice

カメルーン出身のナタリー総長様、通訳として京都ヌヴェール愛徳修道会のシスター、今回の旅行のお世話係のシスターがカリタス南相馬に来られました。総長様は2年前にも来られたことがあります。Superior General Natalie, originally from Cameroon, along with a Sister from Kyoto Congregation de la Charite de Nevers, an interpreter, and a Sister coordinating this trip, visited Caritas Minamisoma. The Superior General had visited us two years ago.

― 親子食堂　Caritas Parent-Child Kitchen

今回の親子食堂にも地元の高校生が手伝いに来てくださり、子どもたちは大喜びでした。この夏初めてのかき氷に高校生が挑戦。　Local high school students came to help out at this Parent-Child Kitchen event, much to the children's delight. The high school students took on the challenge of making shaved ice for the first time this summer.

― カリタス南相馬の夏祭り　Caritas Minamisoma Summer Festival

地域の方々やサロン参加者、カリタス親子食堂を利用されている方々などが来られました。またボランティアとして原町高校福祉活動部の皆さん、東京の聖心女子学院の初等科生、高等科生の皆さんや「ヨゼフ会」（聖心女子学院父親の会）の皆さん、「ぴあのなかまたち」の皆さん、合わせると１００人余りの方々が集いました。「ぴあのなかまたち」の皆さんは、障害をもちつつも各々の特技を生かして音楽表現され、会場を盛り上げてくださいました。 （写真：カリタス南相馬のFacebookより）　The event was attended by local residents, salon participants, and regulars of the Caritas Parent-Child Kitchen. Volunteers included members of the Haramachi High School Welfare Activities Club, elementary and high school students from Tokyo Sacred Heart School, members of the "Yozefu kai" (Tokyo Sacred Heart School's Fathers' "Joseph's group"), and members of "Pia no Nakamatachi."　In total, over 100 people gathered. The members of "Pia's Friends," despite living with disabilities, used their individual talents to perform music and livened up the event. (From Caritas Minamisoma's Facebook page)　

お祭りの後、初等科3年生は宗教の宿題で原町カトリック教会について幸田司教様にインタビュー。たくさんのことを教えていただいて帰りました。 After the festival, Tokyo Sacred Heart school third-graders interviewed Bishop Koda about Haramachi Catholic Church as part of their religion class homework. They returned home having learned a great deal.

― マリアガーデン　Maria Garden

夏野菜が見事に育ち、毎朝、恵みの実りを味わわせていただいています。夏祭りの時のパエリアにはピーマンが活躍！トマトも色づき始めました。 The summer vegetables are growing beautifully, and every morning we are blessed to enjoy the fruits of this bounty.

Green peppers were a star ingredient in the paella for the summer festival! The tomatoes are also starting to turn red.
