Australia-New Zealand: Formation to Mission Conference

Recently staff and Board members of the four Sacred Heart schools of the Australia/New Zealand province gathered with religious of the Sacred Heart of the province and some Alumnae at Kincoppal Rose Bay School in Sydney for the annual two day Formation to Mission Conference.

The hopes for this gathering were that participants would be nourished and challenged in their personal formation to carry forward the charism of Saint Madeleine Sophie Barat and the Society of the Sacred Heart and that they would take away ideas to use in their own schools/ faith communities to develop the Goals of Sacred Heart Education. As well we hoped that the interactions of the Conference would strengthen the Australia-New Zealand network. Kincoppal Rose Bay School, Sidney, Australia. このミーティングで期待しているのは参加者がそれぞ れに聖マグダレナ・ソフィアと聖心会のカリズマを実践していくために個人としての養成が育まれ、刺激を受けられるように、そしてまた、聖心の教育の目標を発展させるために、それぞれの学校で使えるようなアイディアを持ち帰れるようにということでした。また、同時に、オーストラリア・ニュージーランドのネットワーク間のつながりがつよめられることでした。

All 4 schools were strongly represented. For the staff of Kincoppal Rose Bay (Sydney, Australia) the first day of the Conference was their Staff Development Day and 170 attended. The other schools – Baradene (Auckland, New Zealand), Sacré Coeur (Melbourne, Australia) and Stuartholme (Brisbane, Australia) were each represented by their Principals and a number of staff. From each school one teacher offered a workshop on topics such as varied as “Cup cake moments- Contemplation and reflective attentiveness” and “Nurturing their Sacred Heartedness”. ４校からかなりの人数が集まりました。キンコパル・ローズベイの教職員にとって第一日目は職員研修で１７０人が出席しました。ほかの学校、バラディーン、サクレクール、スチュアートホームからは校長と大勢の教職員が出席しました。各学校から一人ずつ先生がいろいろなトピックスでワークショップをしました。「カップケーキの時－観想と内省しながら注意深く見守る」と「聖心らしさを育てる」など。

Kathleen Hughes, rscj. などなど。ほかにも創造的であり、教育的な発表があり、マイケル・フィーラン師による講演も感情的にも霊的にも多くの人の心を深く動かすものがありました。

Our keynote speaker was Kathleen Hughes, rscj from the US Province, who offered us extraordinary spiritual and intellectual nourishment as she led us through ‘Images of the Sacred Heart’, ‘Sophie’s Passions: Towards “Saints Savantes”’, ‘Directions in Sacred Heart Mission’, ‘Discernment as a Way of Decision Making for Boards and Leaders’ and much more. A variety of other creative and educative presentations filled the busy program with Fr Michael Whelan’s offering entitled “We are all misfits who belong” evoking in many a very deep emotional and spiritual response私たちの集まりの基調講演はアメリカ管区のキャサリン・ヒュースで、本当に特別な霊的にも、知的にも栄養をいただきました。「みこころのイメージ」、「ソフィーの情熱」、「聖心のミッションの方向」、「理事とリーダーたちのための意思決定の識別」

The evaluations of the two days spoke of “compelling, insightful and encouraging presentations supportive of my work”, “my excitement and renewed commitment” and told us that “the sharing conversations… were a gift”. In summary we were very blessed during this reflective and energizing time together. The overall effect according to the participants was “inspirational… life-giving… a rich feast,” leaving people “connected and aligned”, “uplifted”… “affirmed”. We give thanks for Kathleen Hughes’ generous contribution to the Australia-New Zealand Network of schools. 二日間の評価では「自分の仕事に助けに なる刺激、励ましをいただきました」、「あら ためて仕事に打ち込みたいという気持ち、 力をいただいた」という声があり、分かち合 いは贈り物でした」といっていました。まと めていうと、共に過ごした、この内省的で元 気づけられた時間は大きな恵みでした。参 加者によれば、全体的に 良い刺激をいた だき、生命をいただき、豊かなお祝いであ り、人々の心をつなぎ、心を高くひき上げ、 確信を与えてくれました。キャサリン・ヒュー スがオーストラリア・ニュージーランドの学 校に寛大に貢献して下さったことに心から の御礼を申し上げます。(頴川政子訳）
