Twice in the Gospel a voice is heard saying that Jesus is the beloved Son. On the occasion of the baptism of Jesus (Luke 3, 22), all the people hear the word. In the episode in today’s liturgy, only the three disciples hear it.

聖書の中で二度イエスが愛するわが子であるといわれる声を聞きます。イエスの洗礼の時は人々皆がその声を聞きます。今日の典礼では3人の弟子だけが聞きます。

In prayer, I place myself near Peter, James and John to hear the word that names the beloved Son; and I ask for the grace to hear it, to enter into the cloud, to rest in its shade and, like Mary at the Annunciation, to accept and live by this word.
祈りのうちに、ペトロ、ヤコブ、ヨハネの近くにいて愛する子と呼ばれる言葉を聞くようにします。その声が聞こえるように、あの雲の中に入れるように、その陰にとどまれるように恵みを願います。そしてお告げの時のマリアのように、この言葉を受け入れ、生きることができる恵みを願います　　。(穎川政子訳)
