Just as the Samaritan woman did, Sophie set out on that journey to the depths of the Spring pouring from the Heart of Christ. She lived in the certainty of having met the living Water there. That is why in her writings she very often uses the verb “puiser”, which evokes the action of drawing water from a well. She knew how to clear an empty space within herself to receive that water, and that was why humility was so important to her. Her whole apostolic mission consisted in accompanying many others on the journey that leads us to the Well.

サマリアの女がしたように、ソフィアもキリストのみ心から注ぎ出る泉の深いところへの旅をはじめます。そこで生ける水に出会ったという確信を持って彼女は生きたのです。ですから、彼女が書いたものには、たびたび「汲む」という動詞が用いられています。それは井戸から水を汲み上げるという行為をあらわします。彼女はその水をいただくために、自分の心の中にどのようにして空いた場所を作るかを知っていたのです。ですから、彼女にとって謙虚さがとても必要だったのです。彼女の使徒的使命のすべては、私たちをその井戸へ導くように共に歩いてくださることだったのです。







We too are travellers attracted by the Fountain that is Jesus. At a time of prayer, after reading the text of Jesus’ meeting with the Samaritan woman, we can ask Sophie to lead us to the adoration that the Father seeks in us. Let us ask her, too, to be our guide on this journey, the most exciting we can ever undertake, in which we go in search of the Giver of living water. Blessed are we if we do decide to undertake it.

私たちもイエズスという泉に心を惹かれる旅人なのです。祈りのときに、イエズスとサマリアの女の箇所を読んでから、御父が私たちに求めておられる崇敬へと導いてくださるようにソフィアにお願いすることが出来ます。また、この道でのガイドになってくださるようにソフィアにお願いしましょう。それは本当に私たちが経験することの出来るもっとも心躍る旅であり、生ける水の与え主を求めての旅なのです。それを実際にしようと決心するわたしたちは幸いです。
